January 2018 Update

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Grace and peace to you in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. I am wrapping up my last few days in the states by working on ministry taxes, personal taxes, and making sure we are ready to go for our training in Ethiopia! I am leaving Friday January 19, 2018 to head to East Africa for the next 3 months. Here is a summary of the basic itinerary:

• January 20 to February 10: Ethiopia
• February 10 to March 27: Uganda
• March 28 to April 14: Kenya (arriving back to the states on April 15)

There are a variety of opportunities for serving the next 3 months. We will be facilitating an Initial Equipping for Trauma Healing on February 5-8 in Ethiopia and holding a Convening Session on February 9th for those interested in learning more about trauma healing. I will also spend a week with a team from my home church as we will be in Ethiopia at the same time. In Uganda, we will be facilitating at least 2 Initial Equipping Sessions for Trauma Healing and one, maybe 2 Advanced Equipping Sessions for Trauma Healing. We will also have a day of training for some lessons like rape and suicide. Finally, in Kenya I will be on hand for member care at a missionary retreat as well as speaking on stress and burnout. The Lord has a sense of humor as I keep getting this topic of stress and burnout-wonder if He is trying to tell me something?

I look forward to sharing what the Lord does in these next few months. I will also be sharing more about the vision and direction for Ministry Care in 2018. Trauma Healing will be a large piece moving forward and I was privileged to sit in on an Advanced in Memphis earlier this month. I am recognizing the importance of facilitating Trauma Healing groups as well as facilitating the Equipping Sessions. I am thankful I had a chance to facilitate a group this past month in Gas City. I learned valuable nuggets of wisdom in training others that we will incorporate into our Advanced in Uganda. I also continue to stand in awe of how great a net worker the Lord is. Finally we as move into 2018, I continue to be thankful for faithful partners like you. This ministry is a team and I could not do this on my own! Many blessings to each of you. Next stop....Ethiopia!

Prayer Requests:

• Safe travels to the Indianapolis Airport on January 19th as we will leave Gas City at around 2:30am.
• For our 1st Initial Equipping Session in Ethiopia. We really need 6 to 10 participants. We are trusting God will send those who can personally benefit as well as add it to their ministry.
• For wise time management of my next few days here in the states.
• For unity among the facilitation team. Sam and Suzie Davis will be co-facilitators as well as Sharon Batley, who is joining us for the first time.
• For protection of health in the next 3 months for myself and for my co-facilitators.
