Grace, mercy, and peace to you as we begin 2017. I pray that the year has started off well! I am heading back out overseas! I will be traveling with a team of 5 others to Ethiopia on January 27. We will be working with Compassion Family International. When the team returns to the states, I will continue in Ethiopia serving with Onesimus. I then travel to Jordan/Israel March 6 to 20th where I will be one of the facilitators at Global Outreach World Missionary Retreat. Some of the content I will be presenting includes resiliency and secondary trauma. I will then return to Ethiopia for 10 days before arriving back in the USA on April 1st. One of the questions I have routinely been asked over the last 6 weeks is “is it dangerous where you are going? Will you be safe?” I do not know if I will be safe but I do know I need to be obedient to what the Lord is asking me to do. As I was preparing this newsletter, this was my devotion for the day. “Put your trust in Me, and I will keep you safe. There is a deep yearning in your heart for safety and security. You can mask these longings with activity for a time, but only for a time. These feelings actually serve a very good purpose. Properly used, they can point you to Me and My sufficiency. I am the only One who can really, ultimately keep you safe. Whenever you start to feel insecure-about anything-come to Me. Talk with Me about your fears and concerns; then affirm your trust in Me. Voicing your trust connects you with Me at a deep level. It also pushes back the darkness of deception. The evil one has been deceiving people ever since time began, since the Garden of Eden. Do not listen to his lies. Instead, put your trust in Me, for I am absolute Truth. As you come to know Me-the Truth-better and better, I make you increasingly free.” Scripture References: Proverbs 29:25; Genesis 3:13; John 14:6; John 8:32 Devotion from Jesus Today by Sarah Young I hope this encourages you as much as it has me this week! What a mighty and personal God we serve! Prayer requests:

Happy New Years! As 2016 comes to a close, the word I can think of for the year has been transition...out of IDES, to Ministry Care, a step of faith to be obedient to the Lord and follow the path He has for my life; a return to Africa-3 countries, 7 cities, 10 different beds in the span of 2 months! Transition is not always easy but I am thankful for a faithful God, no matter what the circumstances we found ourselves! As I look to start out 2017, returning to Ethiopia January 27th (look for more details in my next newsletter), this is what I read today in my devotional, from “Revealinng Jesus” by Darlene Zschech. I feel it is so fitting to my situation and stepping into Ministry Care. The Scripture is Genesis 12:2-3 (NIV): “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you, I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed because through you.” Darlene goes on to say this: “God chose Abraham to be the father of our faith. He asked him to leave his father’s land-Ur was actually quite prosperous and cultured, so I am sure it was not an easy place to leave-to travel to an unknown land and destination. He wanted Abraham to separate himself from the godless forces at work in his world. He challenged Abraham to leave his comfort zone. Abraham obeyed. God promised to bless him, to make his name great, and to make him a blessing to others. He promised to bless those who blessed Him and curse those who cursed Him. He promised to bless all peoples on earth through Him. God still chooses people today. In fact, God chooses you. Don’t look around. I am talking directly to you. You are chosen. And the promises He makes to you are very similar to the promises He made to Abraham. He chooses you to step out of your comfort zone and obey Him in order that your life is both blessed and is a blessing. I pray today that you will sense the great blessing that God is over your world, and that you would in turn live with your heart and hands open to share His greatness with all. Your call is sealed with the giving of Jesus. He will reveal His Son to you continually-that you may reveal Jesus to your world.” How appropriate for me! And maybe for you too!!! Will you be obedient in 2017 to the step of faith God is asking of you? Happy New Years! Thank you so much for your contribution in 2016 to Ministry Care!
